HEATWAVE WARNING
Just because we love animals just as much as you do.
The heatwave is forecasted to start on Tuesday in Gauteng and is expected to last until this weekend.
Here are some handy tips:
1. Please ensure your pets have enough drinking water to hydrate during the extreme heat. One bowl will not suffice so please provide multiple and top up daily.
2. Make sure your pet have enough shade during the day. Please keep in mind that a kennel in the sun doesn't count as shade due to the fact that a kennel has no ventilation and gets extremely hot. Rather move it under a big tree or roof.
3. Limit walking with your pets to only early in the morning or early evening when temperatures are cooler. Remember to take water for yourself and your beloved pet.
Test the heat of the tar or gravel by holding your palm for 10 seconds. If it starts burning after 5 seconds then it's too hot for the dog's paws.
4. Do not leave your dog in the car. Not even for 5 minutes or even though the windows are cracked open or not. They could overheat in minutes. If there are no pets allowed in the shop, rather consider leaving your pet at home.
Please keep in mind the birds and reptiles in your garden. They definitely need water to.
