Earthing isn't just about achieving a low resistance reading.
🌍 EARTHING MATTERS
A properly designed earthing system provides a safe path for lightning current to dissipate into the ground - helping protect people, equipment and structures.
A well-designed earth-termination system helps to:
🌩️Disperse lightning current into the ground
🔗Equalise potential between down-conductors
🛡️Reduce dangerous potential differences around a structure
For a lightning protection system, a low earthing resistance is generally recommended - where possible, below 10 Ω when measured at low frequency.
But the resistance value isn't the whole story.
The type of earth arrangement, soil conditions, electrode layout and overall system design all play a role in how an earthing system performs.
