Married for over **22 years**, and for the last **three months** I’ve been traveling with my husband — and our cat — in a small RV.

Things I have learned:

1. Hubby wants **music playing all the time**.

2. Hubby can apparently spend **six months collecting music for a three-month trip**.

3. …

4. …

5. …

Hubby has **terrible taste in music**, and I dislike approximately **99% of his collection**. 🤪

**Mowzer the cat**, meanwhile, appears to have no opinion whatsoever on the soundtrack.

Pictured is our RV and Mowzer from an earlier trip.

**Women’s size 6–8**, depending on width and design.

No banana for scale, but I’m fairly certain hubby has a song about one somewhere in his collection — and I’m equally certain it would be awful. 🤦‍♀️😹

I’ve always wanted to try **chicken wings with Carolina Reaper sauce**, and about **90 minutes ago**, I finally did it. 🌶️🔥

Honestly, it wasn’t too bad.

Possibly not dull enough for this group.

I do, however, strongly advise against **touching your eye afterwards**.

That part was considerably less enjoyable. 😅

I’ll report back in **6–8 hours** with any further developments.

No banana for scale, but there is a **chilli scale for scale**. 🌶️

**Was he a dull man?**

I’m not even sure what to make of this bumper sticker. 😄

Is it supposed to be funny? Satire? Just plain dumb?

Whatever the original intent was, **Dad is clearly dull now**.

I personally don’t find much funny about it, but maybe that just proves I’m dull enough for this group.

Although I do live in **Las Vegas**, which probably disqualifies me from being completely dull.

So my wife and I are considering flying to the **US for a road trip**, with the main idea being to drive **US-50** from coast to coast. 🇺🇸🚗

Weirdly, out of dozens of American friends I’ve mentioned it to, only **two** even knew the route existed — and that’s probably because they both live close to it.

US-50 runs about **3,019 miles**, from **West Sacramento, California** all the way to **Ocean City, Maryland**.

I also have friends in **Richmond, Virginia**, so I’m tempted to detour south through Richmond and Virginia Beach, then head back up toward Ocean City via the long bridge route near Cape Charles.

A few stops I’m especially looking forward to:

1. **Route 66**
Part of the appeal is getting to overlap with Route 66. I’ve been warned by my American friends that some stretches are remote enough that carrying extra fuel might be wise. Route 66 has been on my bucket list anyway, so this feels like two birds with one stone.

2. **Lawrence, Kansas**
I have a few friends there, and it’s just north of the Kansas section of the route.

3. **St. Louis**
BBQ rib city. I will almost certainly spend far too much time here.

4. **Cincinnati**
I have a friend or two there, and if the timing works out, I may even get dragged to a **Bengals game**.

5. **Virginia**
Detouring to see friends would mean skipping **Washington, D.C.** From a tourist point of view, that’s probably a questionable trade. From a driving point of view… maybe not. 😅

But here’s the dull question:

If I leave US-50 for a detour through Virginia and then rejoin it later, **can I still claim I’ve driven US-50 coast to coast?** 🤔

I feel like there may be rules about this, and I’m prepared to take them far too seriously.

Any suggestions for **wonderfully monotonous podcasts or audiobooks** that might make the time fly on a long road trip? 🚗🎧

I’ll be traveling **solo for about 700 miles** for work training.

No vacation involved, of course. A vacation would be far too exciting for this girl. 😄

I’m looking for something interesting enough to keep me awake and entertained, but preferably still appropriately dull — history, geography, obscure facts, long-form stories, calm narration… anything that works well for hours of driving.

What are your favorite road-trip listens?

**33F, size 8.5 shoes — slightly smaller if they’re heels.**

There may be a banana consumed somewhere along the journey. 🍌

I saw this bridge weight-limit sign in a small local town, and what caught my attention wasn’t the weight limit — it was the **unit of distance** they chose. 😄

Naturally, the dull part of my brain took over and did the math.

According to the sign, the bridge is **21.12 feet ahead**.

At the posted speed limit, you’d be traveling about **36.66 feet per second**, which gives you roughly **0.57 seconds** to notice the sign, process the information, and decide that maybe you shouldn’t be crossing the bridge after all.

Or, in more useful terms, the bridge is about **21 bananas away**. 🍌

Plenty of warning, then.

Extremely dull, but I do love to **admire my washing line**. 😄👕

Spring is finally here, which means we’ve reached that glorious time of year when I can hang the washing outside without constantly worrying that a sudden gust of wind is going to send half my wardrobe out to sea.

There’s something strangely satisfying about seeing a full line of washing drying properly in the fresh air.

Peak excitement? Probably not.

Peak dull satisfaction? Absolutely.

I work on an old **RAF base** that has since been turned into a college, and I’ve got a wonderfully dull question for the group.

Does anyone know what this **large round brickwork mound** might originally have been used for?

Given the site’s RAF history, I’m guessing it had some kind of practical military purpose, but I haven’t been able to work it out.

Any ideas from the resident history, engineering, or aviation dullsters?

No banana for scale — I’ve just walked back from the canteen and absolutely cannot be bothered to go back and get one. 🍌

Following a post I saw about the geography of Minnesota, I thought I’d share one of New Zealand’s wonderfully strange geographic quirks. 🗺️🇳🇿

Our westernmost town, **Westport**, sits on the west side of the South Island.

And yet…

**Dunedin**, which is on the east coast, is actually farther west than Westport.

So our town literally called **Westport** is not as far west as a city on the **East Coast**. 😄

**EDIT:** Dunedin also has a port, which means it could — and therefore probably should — be called **Westport** too, since it’s actually farther west than our western port.

Geography is very cooperative like that.

Driving through **Idaho** — the state with all the potatoes — I discovered that they apparently have a **Potato Museum**. 🥔

I can only imagine how gloriously dull that place must be.

Exhibits on potato history. Potato farming. Potato varieties. Possibly some very serious information about potato processing.

Honestly, it sounds like exactly the kind of museum this group should appreciate.

**28M.**

No banana for scale — the truck stop didn’t have any, unfortunately.
