🚨 PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT | NIGHT-TIME HOUSEBREAKINGS
Over the past two weeks, there has been an increase in reported housebreakings that are cause for concern.
Criminals have reportedly entered homes at night by crawling beneath security beams. In some incidents, residents have been restrained and forced to unlock their phones and disclose passwords, potentially exposing personal information and online accounts.
🛡️ CDF urges all residents to take precautions:
✅ Activate your alarm every night, even when you’re home.
✅ Lock all doors and windows and secure vulnerable access points with burglar bars.
✅ Test your alarm system and security beams regularly.
✅ Check backup batteries and repair any faults immediately.
✅ Consider motion-detection cameras linked to your Olarm and security camera systems, where compatible.
✅ Report suspicious activity to your security provider or SAPS immediately. Never confront suspected criminals yourself.
📱 Protect your digital security: Use strong, unique passwords and enable two-factor authentication on important accounts.
⚠️ If confronted by armed criminals, prioritise your life and your family’s safety. Do not resist or take unnecessary risks.
Stay alert. Secure your home. Protect your family.
