Something different we implemented earlier this year.

We wanted to create a truly unique feature at this property and Kerry Designs drew up this masterpiece. We were left with the simple task of putting it all together.

We created 3 linked height levels for planting using massive specially cut, treated gum poles to create the anchores and fixing points for the wire. The combination of wood, stone and steel is certainly one I love.

The immense weight of these poles was a headache in itself as the holes had to be dug to exact measurements. I must commend my team for the 3 days it took to get them leveled and aligned exactly-not an easy task nor for the faint hearted

We used the clients 5 existng Cycads, planted amongst big weathered rocks as key features and kept the planting scheme minimalistic, using massed planting of set species in each terrace not to distract from our features.

We added paver steps with a tiered planting area down the side for access beyond the gabions. We installed a below ground, drip irrigation system throughout the planting scheme to simplify watering. Soft outdoor lighting illuminates the 3 trees and gives the garden a real showy look when the sun sets.

Incredibly proud to have completed this installation and thrilled with the outcome.

A weathered Rock and gum pole retained entranceway, feature garden we recently completed in the upper highway area.

Splitting and re-using existing plants from the previous garden to tie into the new planting scheme, reduced the overall cost of the project. We were also able to re-set the pathway through the area that had become dangerous and unsightly.

The plan is to continue this style along the front of the property at some stage in the future, removing the large, overgrown hedge and opening up the space.

Cannot wait for these plants to settle in and get to their best!

A courtyard garden got us up and running for 2023.
The space felt small and cramped with a split level running through the middle section of the courtyard. We removed and pushed back the split, widening the steps whilst maintaining the straight lines of paving throughout.

A plaster band and rough cutting were used to finish off the wall and match the house and other low retained walls on the property.

The cladded water feature adds ambiance and structure as a centre focal point and is visible through the kitchen windows.

Planting was kept minimalistic and structural with Aloe Ferox, Elegia tectorum and Aloe cooperi creating the foundation.

Lots of settling and growing before this garden will be at its best but very happy with how it all came together.

Loving this natural look fire pit we installed in Gillitts!
We used a combination of poles and weathered rock to terrace/create level pockets for planting and big rocks to create a half round, seating area.

The big stone steps lead you down from the top terrace and compliment the natural look of the area.

Plants used in this garden were all "recycled" from a previous garden by slips or transplant, thus it will take some time before it grows into itself and matures.

The contrast of hot, dry area behind the fire pit and cooler shadier, cooler section section towards the front end, add an interesting dynamic.

Definitely one of our most fun projects to date!

I had the privilege of visiting another of our landscaping jobs completed last year. The garden has transformed in the months from my last visit and is really starting to mature and settle in nicely🌿

Kerry came up with a fantastic design to best fit the space, surroundings and needs of the client. The seamless lawn hill stretching down infront of the main patio allows the client a clear line of site into a beautiful natural stream area whilst giving the illusion of an "extended" garden.

We created an indiginious forest, extending from the naturally occurring forested area to create privacy from the neighbour's and encourage birdlife into the garden.

A planted, gum pole retained berm prevents the clients and neighbour's dogs from barking through the fence whilst decorating a previously unattractive bank.

A few different ways we have used horizontal pole retaining in our landscaped gardens. From retaining walls to veggi planters, wooden poles are a dynamic, attractive yet practical landscaping material that we love working with!
