This beach house project was designed with existing furniture pieces, versatility and all-age-friendly spaces front of mind.

The layering of lighting allows for an ambient evening to be created whilst the large sliding door sections connect the TV-free living room to the fynbos garden and streaming natural light.

Bathroom Series 3 -
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Full of personality and sass. This bathroom is spacious and luxurious without being ‘showy and bling’.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Full length mirror extending behind and the entire length and height of the vanity wall reflects natural light (we love that trick as you can see). Three globe lights add an unexpected touch and asymmetrical feature.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Terrazo shower tiles add a sassy touch of colour and play when paired with the relaxing tones of the vertically laid metro tiles on the feature wall.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The tiling approach allows for part of the bathroom to become a wet room - where shower and bath meet.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
White mixers and shower heads elevate the sass to modern luxury. We love it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This space feels like a squeeze of lemon on that fresh oyster.

Bathroom series 2 -

More texture, calm colour and playful mosaics for this family beach-side cottage bathroom look.

Textured paint in a calming sea green applied to the walls encourages a play of light and shadow.

Timber slabs bring in warmth for little fingers, hands and sometimes even feet.

Large sliding window sections allow for maximum airflow in a compact bathroom design and ensure the space is well lit.

A full width mirror wall reflects natural light and is a great trick to seemingly double a space.

Every client has a number of different styles. It is our job to gently invite these out of our client to create varied and unexpected spaces.

Clean lines and all white is not for everyone or every space. This is a good example of a little more ‘play’ but with a strong ‘calm’ theme.

A thought for Monday

Your Architect or Designer should lead all conversation with a plan and solution. The solutions offered will range from macro layout of spaces, consideration of views, weather patterns and natural light to micro considerations such as a kitchen style, the colour of your aluminum doors and windows, the pattern of your tiling layout and the arrangement of your freestanding fire place.

A good Designer is a planner of spaces, composition, layering, experience and the ‘feels’ created. All of this is achieved by championing and safe guarding the overall aesthetic.

A good Designer’s job is to keep the project’s aesthetic on track and to encourage the client and all professionals involved to honour the aesthetic integrity of the design.

We pride ourselves on conceptualising both the bigger plan and the smaller solutions holistically to create a well thought out and executed plan.

A moody Cape Town morning calls for a moody work space moment.

This workspace is connected to both the open plan living area and an outdoor shady fern garden. This allows for visual connection whilst squirrelling away to work, fresh air to clear the mind and silence to focus.

Large floor to ceiling New York Loft styled black steel doors separate the lived space from this calm space carved out for productivity.

We painted the walls and ceilings the same soft blue grey to encourage a sense of peace and a ‘boxed’ feeling.

Lighting was very important and a feature within this 3m x 2m space. Joinery was simple and had to allow all work paraphernalia to be neatly concealed whilst being easily accessible- hail the pocket door.

A touch of ‘old’ to balance out the new was added with a reclaimed Art Deco brass desk lamp.
