❌ Cleaning of any asbestos‑containing material is prohibited

🏠 This applies to asbestos roofs regardless of condition, cleaning method, or whether the roof is painted or sealed

🎨 Because cleaning is not allowed, repainting an asbestos roof may not be possible

🦠 Even anti‑fungal treatments are regarded as prohibited roof preparation

🌿 The Department of Employment and Labour confirms that moss and lichen may NOT be removed

💨 Methods like water blasting, brushing, scraping, or cleaning can release harmful asbestos fibres into the air

🔧 Cleaning around cracks or holes for waterproofing is also prohibited

⚠️ This makes proper waterproofing impractical and often leaves roof removal as the only option
