Damp is not always where the real problem starts.

The stain may be on the wall, but the cause could be higher up, outside, behind the surface or running down from somewhere else. That is why painting over damp is such an expensive shortcut. First, find the cause. Then repair. Then prepare. Then finish.

The final coat gets the compliment. The prep does the protecting.

A lasting exterior finish is not only about the paint colour. It is about the work underneath: cleaning, scraping, filling, sealing, priming and checking the surface properly before the finish goes on.

Shortcuts can look good for a while. Proper prep is what gives the finish a fighting chance. That is the DAFCO Standard.

The first proper winter weather usually tells the truth.

Water finds the weak spots first. Gutters overflow. Cracks show. Old waterproofing starts talking. Exterior paint begins to lift where the prep or protection has failed. That does not mean panic. It means pay attention early.

After handing over our recent project at the Langeberg Mall in Mosselbay, we took a moment to say thank you to the team who made it happen.
