HELLO SEPTEMBER // August was a full one.

Spontaneous trips to Johannesburg to see one of our lovely clients. Busy installation days. Office admin. And ordering that is, quite literally, coming out of our ears.

Now, somehow, September is here.

And with it comes our gentle little reminder that we are getting closer and closer to the cut off for seasonal orders.

Still thinking about those new scatters? Curtains that have been on the list for months? Blinds you would really like installed before the season begins?

Now is the time to come and see us.

We want to be able to help you. We want enough time to order, make, plan and install everything properly before suppliers and workshops close their books for the year.

SITE SAFETY, BUT MAKE IT COLOURFUL // Some people arrive on site with plans, samples and tape measures. We arrive with all of that, plus enough colour to improve site morale.

Because building sites may be full of dust, concrete and practical decisions, but nobody said the shoes had to be boring.

We take every project seriously. We also take our footwear very seriously.

Vanessa has officially converted Kyla into a sneaker fanatic, so naturally, site visits now require good shoes, bold colour and a quick outfit check before getting back to business.

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND // We have restocked one of our best selling Scatter Cushions, but there is a very limited number left.

This may just be the final run of this design, so waiting patiently might not be the best strategy.

They would look wonderful in your home. They should probably be yours. Just saying.

MONDAY MOMENTUM // We love a productive Monday morning in the Studio.

Today has been filled with putting together something special for a client, working through the never ending emails and planning and preparing for the week ahead.
For a brief moment, it feels like we have achieved it all.
Tomorrow is another day though, and we are sure the inbox will be waiting.

PROJECT COMPLETE // CUSTOM MUDROOM

This custom mudroom was designed to be practical, comfortable and connected to the rest of the home.

The built in seating and storage give the space purpose, while the custom scatter cushions made through Living Studio bring in colour, softness and personality.
Our fitting team also installed the artwork for the gallery wall, completing the final layer of the room.

We love being able to work across multiple elements within one space. From custom soft furnishings to installation and styling, each detail is considered as part of the bigger picture.

FROM INSPIRATION TO DIRECTION // Are you team bright and bold or team muted and soft?

One of our favourite parts of any project is creating the moodboard. It is where ideas begin to take shape and where colour, pattern, texture and finishes start to tell the story of the space.

No two moodboards are ever the same, and that is exactly what we love about the process. Every client is drawn to something different. Some love colour, contrast and statement prints, while others prefer softer tones, natural textures and a quieter palette.

Our fabric library is extensive, giving us access to an incredible selection of colours, textures and patterns. For clients who love having plenty of options, it is a wonderful place to explore. For those who feel overwhelmed by too much choice, we guide the process by narrowing down the options and presenting combinations that suit both the space and the way you want it to feel.

A moodboard is more than a collection of beautiful samples. It gives the project direction, helps every design decision connect and allows our clients to see how the different elements will work together before we move forward.

WOMEN’S DAY // Happy Women’s Day to all the strong, powerful, brave and wonderful women we have the privilege of working with.

To our clients, suppliers, collaborators and the women who support and encourage us behind the scenes, we see you and we celebrate you.

Living Studio will be closed on Monday, 10 August. We will be back in the studio on Tuesday, 11 August.

THE FINAL LAYER // RUGS THAT COMPLETE A SPACE

A rug has the ability to change the entire feeling of a room.

It brings warmth, texture and comfort underfoot, while helping to anchor the furniture and define the space. It can connect colours, soften hard finishes and make a room feel more considered and complete.

From a large rug beneath a lounge setting to a runner in a passage, the right choice can pull every element together and give the room a stronger sense of balance.

We can source ready made rugs from our trusted suppliers or assist with custom natural rugs made from materials such as sisal, jute and seagrass. This allows us to consider the size, texture and finish that will work best within your space.

Sometimes, it is the final layer that makes the whole room make sense.

PACKED AND READY // INSTALLATION DAY

The van is packed to the brim and we are ready to bring another project together.
After weeks of planning, sourcing, preparing and managing all the behind the scenes details, installation day is where everything starts to take shape. It is our chance to step outside the Studio, place each piece, style every corner and make sure the space feels complete before the final client handover.

There is something incredibly rewarding about seeing all the plans move from paper into a finished space.

HELLO AUGUST // A PERSONAL NOTE FROM VANESSA on SIX YEARS OF LIVING STUDIO

In July, I quietly reached a milestone that means so much to me. Six years ago, I bought LIVING Studio (formerly known as Beach House Decor Studio).

It has been six years of hard work, sleepless nights, exciting projects, difficult decisions, countless memories and so much growth. There have been moments of uncertainty, moments of pure joy and many moments that have reminded me why I chose this path.

July was such a whirlwind that I did not get the chance to properly acknowledge or celebrate this milestone. When you work so hard to build something of your own, it is easy to move straight on to the next deadline, project or challenge. I am learning just how important it is to pause and celebrate the milestones. The big ones, the small ones and all the in between moments.

To every client who has trusted me and the LIVING Studio team with your home, your project and your vision, thank you. To every person who has supported, encouraged and believed in me, both seen and unseen, thank you. Your support has meant more than you may ever know.

So this August, I am taking a moment to celebrate. Six years of LIVING Studio, everything it has taken to get here and the busy, exciting season that lies ahead.
