UNITS INVOLVED: EOS: C.I., Metro Trio Crimes Task Team, eThekwini Infrastructure Task Team, and Tracing Point TRU & Investigation

UMLAZI CAS ...../08/2025 – Section 36

On 2025-08-12, members conducted an intelligence-driven operation in the Umlazi policing area. Information supplied by a C.I. source led the members to the suspect’s premises in P Section.

As members approached the premises, the suspects were inside the residence and came outside without retaliation.

Members then searched the premises and found car keys for a Toyota Fortuner. The members asked the target to open the garage to inspect the vehicle, and upon inspection, they noticed the vehicle had been stripped of various parts. The target stated that the vehicle was being stored in the garage by his friend known as "Lusi," who resides in Q Section. The vehicle was circulated and it was established that it was sought as per Westville CAS 70/08/2025 – Theft of Motor Vehicle.

Members then proceeded to the residence in Q Section, where they found "Lusi" inside. Upon inspection of the residence, members came across various VW CPU boxes and an AUTEL device, which the target claimed was used to copy vehicle keys. The target "Lusi" then informed members that the devices found inside the house belonged to his friends "Mafutha" and "Sbu," who both reside in B Section, Umlazi.

Members then proceeded to B Section, where they arrested "Mafutha" and "Sbu" after finding multiple vehicle-jamming devices in their possession.

All arrested suspects were detained at Umlazi as follows:
