WELL DONE, SNOW & TEAM!

Another great example of proactive security and teamwork from our Smhart Security team.

Our officers spotted a suspicious individual in Leadwood Street and, after further investigation, discovered a bundle of suspected stolen copper pipes in the person’s possession.

The suspect was handed over to SAPS for further investigation and the necessary legal process.

A big well done to Snow and the entire Smhart Security team for remaining vigilant and taking action when it matters. Your dedication and commitment to keeping our communities safe does not go unnoticed!

SMHART SECURITY – QUICK RESPONSE LEADS TO ARREST

Our Response Officer D was on patrol in C Place, Nautilus Street, when he noticed a suspicious-looking male pushing a wheelie bin.

D made contact with the suspect and, with permission, conducted a check of the wheelie bin. Inside, he discovered a large quantity of stolen copper piping, which had been stripped and appeared to have been removed from a residential or business premises.

Two dangerous weapons were also confiscated from the suspect.

The suspect was handed over to SAPS for further investigation.

QUICK RESPONSE & SUSPECT DETAINED

📍 Location: Lyme Road, St Francis Bay
📅 Date: 22 August 2026

At approximately 17:50, Smhart Security Reaction Officer R1 responded to an alarm activation at a client’s premises on Lyme Road.

Upon arrival, Officer Maziko conducted a thorough inspection of the property and noticed that a bathroom window had been left slightly open, which was recorded in his feedback report.

While checking the premises, he received video footage showing a male seen at the rear of the property — an area where copper pipes had previously been stolen.

Officer Maziko immediately remained alert and began checking the surrounding area. Shortly thereafter, he located a male matching the description from the CCTV footage, carrying a backpack.

When questioned, the individual claimed that he had been looking for golf balls on the client’s property. However, when asked to produce the golf balls, he was unable to do so.

Due to the suspicious circumstances and the client’s concerns regarding repeated incidents involving individuals looking for golf balls in the area, SAPS was contacted and the suspect was detained pending further investigation.

Quick Response Prevents Major Damage 🚨🔥

INCIDENT RESPONSE | SHEARWATER, ASTONBAY

Reaction Officer K responded to a premises in Shearwater, Aston Bay, following a routine alarm activation.

Upon arrival, Karlen immediately noticed something was wrong. He heard glass breaking inside the residence and could smell smoke coming from the premises.

Recognising the seriousness of the situation, he immediately contacted the Control Room and requested that the local Fire Department be dispatched.

It was confirmed by the client and Fire Department that the stove had been left switched on, resulting in the dangerous situation. Thankfully, the client was not at home at the time of the incident.

👏 Well done, Officer K, Smhart Security Control Room and the Kouga local Fire Department!

This incident is a great reminder of why fast, professional response matters. A routine alarm activation could have quickly turned into a much more serious incident, but thanks to the quick actions of our Reaction Officer and Fire Department, potential damage was greatly reduced.

SUSPECT APPREHENDED & HANDED OVER TO SAPS

18 August 2026 | 13:20 | Seetuin Road

Smhart Security once again demonstrated the importance of proactive patrols, camera monitoring and quick communication when a suspicious individual was apprehended in Seetuin Road.

The individual had previously been spotted on camera in Palm Crescent, allegedly stealing solar lights and trespassing in a yard of Palm Crescent.

At approximately 13:20, our team spotted the same individual in Seetuin Road carrying a television. The suspect was apprehended and stated that he had “found” the TV.

J5 immediately notified Control, who contacted SAPS. SAPS arrived on scene, accompanied by the Army, and the suspect was handed over to SAPS together with the television for further questioning and investigation.

👏 Well done to our Smhart Security team for remaining alert, responding quickly and working closely with SAPS to help keep our community safe.

⚠️ The matter remains under investigation by SAPS.

🚨 Vehicle Recovery – Aston Bay Response

A big well done to our Smhart Security Aston Bay Response Officer for the excellent work in assisting with the recovery of a stolen vehicle.

The vehicle had been reported stolen in Jeffreys Bay yesterday at approximately 16:00, with information shared through the Safer Group and Intertown networks.

Following up on the information received, Smhart Security spotted the vehicle at Walskipper and immediately acted, resulting in the vehicle being successfully recovered.

A special thank you to:

🔹 Smhart Security R/O – for the quick response, vigilance and follow-up
🔹 SAPS – for responding promptly and arriving on scene very quickly
🔹 The administrators of the Safer Group – for sharing and circulating the information
🔹 Intertown – for assisting in getting the information out to the community

The case remains under investigation by SAPS, and no further information has been released at this stage.

This is another great example of what can be achieved when security companies, SAPS and community information networks work together.
