The Boule Court is ready for action. What a heavenly place to gather friends and family for a game of Boule or Pétanque. A game for young and old and a great way to spend an afternoon.

Incredible joy today from this Brugmansia (Double White Moonflower) growing in my garden. Cutting from a friend. It’s so wonderful to receive plants from people or places as it transports you back into happy memories.

I wanted to share something of my travels to Morocco and the gardens with everyone. It is always fascinating travelling and seeing familiar plants used in different ways and of course many new plants too. As you enter the Jardin Majorelle in Marrakesh you walk through a magnificent bamboo forest which is a welcome respite from the heat. You look onto huge cacti and tall stunning palms with stone chip. The spaces between the plants are almost as important as the plants themselves. The Ficus lyrata which has become a fashionable indoor plant stands tall as it can escape the confines of the pot. The Delicious Monstera grows underneath the bamboo. I have fallen in love with palms in their natural habitat. The cacti are imposing and there are so many different varieties. Vibrant, bold contrasting colours, strong shape and texture and simple planting all make this garden a joy to discover.

Texture, contrast and in this case colour is what I really like to play with in a garden. Most of these were transplanted or taken from cuttings which is unusual. I like to “Reduce & Reuse” if possible.
