⚠️ Attention Solar Power Users in South Africa ⚠️

Eskom has announced that all grid-tied solar power systems connected to its network must be registered, even if they do not feed electricity back into the grid. Unregistered systems are considered illegal, and standard Certificates of Compliance (CoCs) issued by electricians are not sufficient.

Homeowners may be required to install additional equipment and seek new approvals to comply with Eskom’s Small-Scale Embedded Generation (SSEG) rules. Ensure your system meets the latest requirements to avoid penalties.

Eskom Urges Immediate Action: Recoding of Prepaid Meters Before 24 November 2024

📅 Date: Monday, 18 November 2024
⏳ Deadline: Sunday, 24 November 2024

Eskom has issued an urgent reminder to all prepaid electricity customers: recode your meters before 24 November 2024 to avoid losing electricity supply!

Prepaid meters still operating on KRN1 (Key Revision Number 1) will stop accepting electricity tokens after the deadline. Once current credit is used up, affected meters will become inoperable. Replacement costs may reach R12,000 – payable by the customer.

Who is at risk?

Customers who haven’t bought electricity for over six months.
Users of unauthorised tokens purchased from illegal vendors.

What to do now?

Purchase electricity tokens from authorised vendors.
You’ll receive two sets of 20-digit codes to update your meter.
Enter the codes to ensure your meter continues functioning.

💡 Act now to avoid disruptions and unnecessary costs.

For assistance, contact Eskom or your local electricity distributor immediately.
