PROJECT HIGHLIGHT | N3 NATIONAL ROUTE UPGRADE.
Empilweni Trading (Pty) Ltd is proud to have been part of the Upgrade of National Route 3 (N3), Sections 2 and 3, from Lynnfield Park (KM30.6) to Ashburton (KM0.8) as a subcontractor.
This major infrastructure project forms part of the ongoing improvement of one of South Africa’s important national transport corridors, supporting safer, more efficient and more durable road infrastructure.
🔹 Our Contribution
As a subcontractor, Empilweni Trading (Pty) Ltd contributed to the construction works associated with the 250 mm thick continuously reinforced concrete (CRC) pavement.
The photograph captures the reinforcement preparation before the concrete pavement construction, with the steel reinforcement carefully positioned across the pavement area. This stage requires accuracy, proper alignment and adherence to the project’s technical and quality requirements.
🔹 Why This Work Matters
Continuously reinforced concrete pavement is designed to provide a strong and durable pavement structure capable of carrying significant traffic loads over an extended service life. The reinforcement plays an important role in controlling cracking and maintaining the integrity of the pavement.
