The Garden Route District Municipality is developing a new regional waste management facility near Mossel Bay to provide controlled waste-disposal capacity and supporting infrastructure, including waste cells, drainage systems, buildings, services and internal roads.
KMC Construction was appointed as the specialist slipform paving subcontractor for approximately 17 000 m² of concrete roads. These roads form the operational backbone of the facility, providing durable access between the entrance, weighbridge, waste cell and associated infrastructure.
Using our Wirtgen SP500 slipform paver, KMC successfully constructed the 215 mm thick pavement network, including tight-radius sections, while achieving high levels of accuracy, quality and safety. The works incorporated approximately 3 655 m³ of pavement concrete, completed without rejected concrete and with an incident-free safety record.
This project once again just highlights KMC's specialist expertise in delivering durable, high-performance infrastructure that will support long-term waste management operations and environmental sustainability. KMC Construction is proud to be part of and leave our mark (in concrete) at this project in partnership of Civils 2000.
