It is always a treat to walk through the displays, and see new species or hybrids to inspire the plant design for the next project.

Thank you for an truly informative tour LaRSSA team, the team from Vula Environmental, and Winnie from Kaytech.
I learned so much and met great people as well!
It was inspiring to see ecological restoration projects in a different part of our country - from mine rehabilitation in a sensitive ecological area, to restoration of an ecological corridor in a residential development, to dune stablization and different coastal applications using Kaytech products.
What a privilege to have been part of this opportunity where experts share knowledge, ideas, and lessons learned over decades.
And in-between there were beautiful coastal views and sunsets over the ocean.
Heart - and mind - is full.

I'll be joining an exciting tour to the Cape West Coast with the Land Rehabilitation Society in just over a week.
How exciting to receive your goodie bag as a backpack via courier, filled with a small cooler bag, a lovely notebook, a hat, PPE, and more!
I can't wait!!

Today, our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to a very dear friend and fellow Landscape Architect, Sonette Smit.

Our friendship started in the design studio 36 years ago, spending nights behind our drawing boards (yes we still drew by hand), forging a friendship that has lasted until the day we had to say goodbye.

Sonette - fly free, without pain. We will miss you always 💔

May you be happy, may you find rest and peace, may you be healthy.
Thank you for great working relationships to all our clients, the planning teams and our contractors.
I love collaborating, sharing ideas and seeing them come alive on site.
I look forward to continuing the journey in the new year.

Villa del Mare, Langebaan
Did a quick visit to a new development on the west coast by one of our clients, to understand the design approach and philosophy.
Lovely integration of green spaces and fynbos landscape into the residential estate.
And a variety of sports fields to encourage an active lifestyle.
Thanks for allowing me access before the launch and key handover!

It's always good to revisit completed projects a few months after handover, to see how the gardens are settling in, how the gardens were adapted, and if the maintenance is supporting a successful establishment.
The groundcovers have doubled and tripled in size and have, in most areas, covered the planting areas.
The seasonal pops of colour are a joy.

Progress.
Retaining walls progressing well and ready for concrete to be cast into the cavities.
And outdoor spaces in the garden are slowly taking shape 🤩
Next up, the seating wall and pizza oven slab 💪🏼

These soft, watercolour sketches stand out in a world suddenly dominated by AI generated graphics.
