Tamboti House | Concept
Tamboti house is situated on a steep sloping site with various protected tree species informing the design solution. A muted colour palette is used in conjunction with black facebrick to recede the building into the shadows while minimizing the need for ongoing maintenance.

Our proposal for Watkins House, Kaapsehoop - 2023.
A cosy 2 bedroom house with additional open plan loft in the misty mining village of Kaapschehoop. This building is a contemporary interpretation of typical historical buildings in the village including the Chapel and fire lookout building on the hiking trail.

Project Sacres, White River - Completed 2025
A few progress photos of the landscaping now taking shape, a few months after completion. The vision of this alteration is slowly taking shape:
The concept was to add a new Pool House amongst others, by demolishing the existing covered stoep and replacing it with a luscious courtyard. A new fully glazed passage links the existing residence and it's spaces like the wine lounge, living areas and bedrooms directly to this new courtyard. The courtyard itself is now defined by the existing and the new, allowing more light and natural ventilation into the building, while creating a mini oasis.
The concept also incorporates the idea of creating a 'spinal' route from the existing front entrance, all the way down to an outdoor boma, and develops the theme along the way: signifying personal growth and freedom.

New proposal for a rustic bush house on the banks of the Crocodile River bordering the Kruger National Park. The residence is only 200m2 and is designed as a series of spaces connected by walkways. This ensures that negative spaces between solid shapes can be rehabilitated to become part of the natural bush environment, further decreasing the perceived massing of the spaces. Also, we put a hot tub on the roof :)

Concept Proposal: House 32 (2023)

This residence residence consists of three distinct wings.

Boulders, rock and trees lend to a radial building typology with the living areas connected closely to the large central boulder. This boulder defines the physical and metaphysical genius loci of the site and can be seen as the axis mundi - or the connection between earth and heaven. It is thus the heart of the home, with both internal and external spaces planned around it.

The boma utilises the boulder to define it's boundaries where one can reminisce in fire light to the era when these boulders were formed. It's ancient cantilevering form is mirrored by a cantilevering master suite with spectacular views down the pool valley. One passage links the living wing to bedrooms 2 & 3 with focussed views on a large Wild Fig tree at the front entrance. This passage exits directly onto natural rock towards the large boulder.

The second passage serves a dual purpose: a contemplative study nook and a discreet guest toilet. It opens onto the southern lawn, offering vistas of the master boulder koppie and a secondary cluster of rock and trees. This passage further unfolds into the covered stoep, subtly separating the master suite wing from the living wing. The resulting aperture creates a dramatic visual axis—an unbroken view down the pool valley—heightening the sense of arrival as one approaches the master bedroom.
