The Brittz family Bible from 1893 that came into the studio after a well meaning attempt at recovering it with fabric had left residue of old contact glue on the leather cover as well as damaged edges and torn pages. The family ephemera that needed to be kept with the bible was added into the bible on acid free paper.

What a privilege to work on this 1637 Statenbijbel, one of the earliest items I have worked on. A dark tint had been added some time in the past which was very carefully removed as much as possible. The missing Foreword page had to be replicated.
The textblock was in remarkable condition for a volume that is 388 yrs old.
