AHA Electrical (PTY) Ltd recently tackled a unique challenge. Our client required a hybrid Solar/Generator backup system to ensure 100% uptime, but the geographical layout of the farm presented significant transmission hurdles.

Technical Highlights:
• MV Integration: To combat resistance over long distances, we implemented a 3,000V medium-voltage loop.
• Infrastructure: Utilized a series of step-up/step-down transformers to move power from the Eskom incomer to the solar container, and then a further 2,000m to the primary residence and additional residence points.
• Redundancy: Integrated a generator-to-solar-container fail-safe to ensure that even during extended low-sun periods, the farm remains fully operational.
