We have had an influx of battery replacements (most not being very old 3-6 months)
from new sites as well as existing customers.

We all know load shedding is taking a toll on our batteries and electronics, at the end of the day it’s your security that comes first, equipment is only useful if it’s powered.

We have always used quality batteries but unfortunately even these get hammered by load shedding, as they can’t charge up quickly enough between schedules causing them to deplete which damages the batteries cells, this affects the integrity of the battery.

We are now recommending installing lithium ion batteries. These have a higher discharge rate and higher cycle rate as it is an electronic battery which is able to recover better and charge faster.
In the long term you will get more out of your battery,
they are a lot more expensive but cheaper in the long run.

We are able to fit these to gates, alarms, energisers, modem/internet backup and some garage door motors.

The quality of the battery is still important which is why we have tested them ourselves before installing them, and know that under normal operating circumstances (and our current loadshedding) that will offer sufficient backup.

We still install Led-acid batteries at customers discretion.
