DB Board Maintenance
1. Full Visual Inspection
Check for overheating, discoloration, loose terminations, moisture ingress, rodent damage, and ageing components.
2. Cleaning & Decontamination
Remove dust, carbon tracking, rust, and oil residue. Clean busbars, breaker surfaces, and insulation barriers.
3. Torque & Tightening
Re‑tighten all lugs, terminals, neutral bars, earth bars, and breaker connections to eliminate hot spots.
4. Protection Device Testing
Test MCCBs, MCBs, earth leakage units, surge arresters, and metering modules for correct operation.
5. Busbar Condition Assessment
Inspect for heat marks, insulation damage, corrosion, and mechanical wear. Re‑insulate or replace if required.
6. Cable & Wiring Integrity
Check for brittle insulation, burnt conductors, incorrect sizing, poor terminations, and replace where necessary.
7. Functional Testing
Perform insulation resistance tests, continuity tests, trip tests, and earth loop impedance verification.
8. Load & Balancing Review
Assess load distribution across phases to prevent overloading and improve system stability.
9. Safety & Compliance Check
Verify compliance with SANS 10142, OHSA requirements, correct labeling, danger signage, and panel sealing.
10. Maintenance Report Issued
Provide a full photographic report, findings, risks, and corrective actions.
