MDA Architects was founded in 2005 by Duncan Angus and Pat Dalgleish.

MDA Architects has established itself in the Port Elizabeth and Border / Kei region of the Eastern Cape Province with offices in Gqeberha, Mthatha and East London MDA Interiors was launched in 2009 under the directorship of Kirsty King and operates throughout the Eastern Cape. Both companies work hand in hand to offer a full architectural solution from inception to completion. Particular design fo

𝗔𝗗𝗗𝗢 𝗙𝗨𝗘𝗟 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡
What starts as a cleared site, a few survey pegs, and a vision on paper is steadily taking shape in Addo.

With construction progressing well, the new fuel station is beginning to reveal the form and function that will soon serve both locals and travellers passing through this beautiful part of the Eastern Cape. From the structural framework to the carefully planned layout, every stage reflects the collaboration between design, engineering, and construction teams working towards a shared goal.

𝘼𝙩 𝙈𝘿𝘼 𝘼𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙨, we believe great projects are built long before the first brick is laid. Through thoughtful planning, safety-conscious design, and attention to the needs of the community, we're proud to see this development coming to life.

Our team at MDA Architects recently visited site on an exciting psychiatric hospital project currently taking shape. As the building progresses, so does the vision of creating a space designed around patient wellbeing, staff efficiency, and long-term safety.

Every aspect of the design has been approached with careful consideration, incorporating essential safety measures, controlled access points, secure circulation, and healthcare protocols to help create an environment that is both functional and compassionate.

Last Friday evening, the office traded drawings and deadlines for padel racquets and friendly competition at the BKIA Padel Americano night🎾

From all of us at MDA Architects, thank you to the Border Kei Institute of Architects for hosting such an enjoyable evening, for the thoughtful light refreshments, and for creating a space where industry colleagues could connect beyond the workplace.

There’s something special about stepping away from the office, sharing a few laughs between matches, and building relationships in a completely different environment.

A big thank you as well to Padel Park for having us and providing the perfect setting for a memorable evening on the courts.

Good conversations, great energy, and plenty of competitive spirit made it a night to remember 👏

House P was designed to create that exact moment. As you approach, the bold architectural frames draw your eye inward, layered textures soften the modern palette, and natural light filters through the double-volume glazing to create a sense of openness and calm. 𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙮 𝙈𝘿𝘼 𝘼𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙨!

Every line, material, and detail was carefully considered to create an arrival experience that feels both striking and inviting.

The contemporary architecture is defined by sweeping rooflines, layered forms, and expansive glazing that fill the spaces with light while creating a strong visual presence on campus. 𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙮 𝙈𝘿𝘼 𝘼𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙨!

From arrival to interaction, the building is shaped to foster community, movement, and a sense of belonging becoming both a landmark and a social heart for the university.

As evening settles in, the home transforms glowing softly around the courtyard, where indoor comfort and outdoor living become one continuous experience.

𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙮 𝙈𝘿𝘼 𝘼𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙨, House T is a balance of luxury without excess, openness without compromise, and spaces created for both quiet retreat and vibrant connection.

From the full-sized tennis court to the expansive entertainment areas, every detail was imagined around a lifestyle of movement, leisure, and timeless modern living.

At this church project by MDA Architects, the parking area was designed as more than just a place for cars. It becomes the beginning of the worship experience calm, shaded, safe, and welcoming.

Natural light filters through the trees, soft textures warm the architecture, and clear circulation creates a smooth flow for families, visitors, and the community gathering together. Every arrival matters, and every space tells part of the story. 🌿🚗✨𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙮 𝙈𝘿𝘼 𝘼𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙨!
