This morning, our Response Officers were dispatched to a clientโ€™s premises in Sherwood following a report of suspicious activity at the back of the property.

When our Response Officers arrived to investigate, they discovered an illegal electrical cable running underneath the residentโ€™s back wall and along the inside perimeter of the property. The cable had been concealed within the flower beds and dug underground, running all the way to the front wall where it had been connected to the propertyโ€™s external electrical box.

The illegal connection appeared to have been routed through the clientโ€™s property to supply nearby informal structures. In an attempt to conceal the connection, fibre cables had even been placed over the illegal electrical cables.

Our Response Officers removed the illegal connections and secured the affected area.

The matter will now be escalated to the relevant Ward Councillor for further investigation and appropriate action.

This incident highlights the importance of remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious activity or potentially dangerous electrical connections. Illegal electrical connections can pose a serious safety risk to both properties and surrounding communities.

On Wednesday, a team of our off-shift Response Officers spent several hours assisting with a clean-up initiative in the Central area.

The team helped with general clean-up efforts and assisted in relocating vagrants who had set up camps in the area.

Keeping our streets clean, safe and welcoming is an ongoing effort, and this is an initiative we regularly support as part of our commitment to community.

We remain committed to doing our part to help clean up the streets to provide a safer environment for our community.

Swift Response Leads to Apprehension of Knife Wielding Suspect

Earlier today, our Response Officers responded to an emergency group alert after a resident reported that her domestic worker had been chased by a man armed with a knife in Springfield.

Our team immediately patrolled the area and located the suspect. He was apprehended and our Response Officers remained on scene until SAPS arrived and took the suspect into custody.

Unfortunately, at the last minute the complainant decided not to open a case. Opening a case is important in instances like this, otherwise the suspect gets away with their offense and is free to commit other offenses.

Another example of our Response Officers being ready to respond when our community needs them.
