Meet the custodian of Cape Pastoral 🌿🐝

One of my favourite label design projects for Cape Pastoral Organic Wine for Org de Rac, designed by us at Design Trilogy, in collaboration with Big Eye Deer Design Studio, and beautifully illustrated by the brilliant Heidi-Kate Greeff.

As a label designer, I’ve learned that the best packaging happens through collaboration. A great illustrator can take an idea and transform it into something with soul, story and real shelf impact.

In a world increasingly filled with AI-generated imagery, this project is also a reminder that nothing quite replaces the real deal. Human illustration brings nuance, emotion and authenticity. The tiny imperfections, instinct and lived experience are what make something feel truly special, one of a kind, and impossible to fully replicate.

From stripped back to sophisticated…

We are excited to share a glimpse into this commercial refurbishment project that we are undertaking in a JV collaboration with Create Space Architects and Design Studio.

This transformation is all about modernising the interior while creating a calmer, more refined and timeless aesthetic. Think layered textures, natural tones and beautifully crafted bespoke elements coming together to reshape the space entirely.

A few highlights of this exciting collaboration include:
• The custom Reception Counter design in collaboration with Optima Kitchens
• A bespoke feature screen and Oak sliding door by Krijnauw
• Natural Composite Timber Floors from Oggie bringing warmth and texture to the interior
• Beautiful new office carpets from Belgotex
• Reupholstered existing furniture paired with carefully selected new pieces from Hertex Haus

The before images and current construction progress already hint at the incredible transformation underway… and we cannot wait to reveal the finished space.

A new chapter is taking shape…

We are currently working on an exciting Commercial Interior Refurbishment in collaboration with Create Space Studio, crafting a space with a refined, contemporary aesthetic and a bold architectural identity.

Layered textures, warm finishes, curated materials and thoughtful detailing are coming together to create an environment that feels both sophisticated and inviting.

This is the look & feel we are going for… and we cannot wait to reveal the transformation.

There’s something energising about stepping out of the studio and into the world of materials.

A recent visit to International Slabs with our client and Optima turned into one of those moments—running hands over stone, comparing veins and tones, and finally selecting a striking marble slab for their reception counter.

Collaborating with Create Space Architects & Design Studio made the experience even more , with plenty of ideas (and a fair bit of excitement) flowing between us.

We also stopped by the Oggie showroom in Parkhurst to confirm the composite timber flooring that will ground this office refurbishment beautifully.

This project is already shaping up to be something special… watch this space as the transformation unfolds.

This past weekend felt a little like catching lightning in a bottle!

With our lives spread across Cape Town, Pretoria, and Johannesburg, time together is something we never take for granted. But this time, everything aligned. We gathered at Askara House to celebrate Design Trilogy’s 8th year in the industry — not just as colleagues, but as sisters, collaborators, and creatives who have grown something truly meaningful together.

Eight years ago, Askara Haus was just an idea on paper. Today, it stands as one of the projects that helped shape the story of Design Trilogy.

Following its feature in Inbound Magazine (November 2025), we’re taking a moment to look back at this special project. Askara Haus was one of our very first commissions and the opportunity to design a boutique hotel experience that blended architecture, interiors, and atmosphere into something quietly distinctive.

Every project has a beginning, and Askara Haus was part of ours. It challenged us, inspired us, and reminded us how powerful thoughtful design can be when a client with vision meets a team ready to explore possibilities.

As Design Trilogy celebrates 8 years, it feels fitting to revisit one of the projects that helped launch the journey. From early sketches to welcoming guests through its doors, Askara Haus remains a milestone in our story.

Here’s to the projects that start the adventure… and to many more still to come.

Architectural Spotlight: House Martin

One of the standout moments on the PIA-organised Pretoria architecture bus tour was visiting House Martin by Earthworld Architects. A home that quietly commands attention through its remarkable design, thoughtful detailing, and the unmistakable sense that every element was carefully considered.

House Martin is more than a beautifully resolved building. It speaks of a client with true vision and an architectural team willing to explore ideas with precision and craft. From spatial composition to the finest details, the house reveals itself as a truly bespoke piece of architecture, where each component feels purposefully designed and expertly made.

Days like these remind us how important it is to celebrate the work of our colleagues in the industry. Thank you to Earthworld Architects for sharing this exceptional project, and to the PIA for arranging these tours that allow us to experience and learn from the remarkable architecture being created around us.

It was an incredible privilege to collaborate with Audi Snÿman a true icon in South African interior architecture on the evolution of her brand identity for Audi Snyman Interior Architecture & Interior Design.

When working with an established name, the process begins long before design. It begins with listening.

Understanding who Audi is, not only as a designer, but as a leader, visionary, and creative force was essential.
We spent time unpacking the story behind the brand. the philosophy that has guided the studio for three decades, the standards of excellence clients have come to trust, and the subtle nuances that differentiate her work in a competitive market.

We explored how the brand is perceived today, and how it should feel tomorrow.

Equally important was defining the target audience. The identity needed to speak to them with quiet confidence and credibility.

The brief was not reinvention. It was refinement. To retain the integrity, trust, and attention to detail that have shaped a 30-year legacy, while elevating the brand into its next chapter with clarity, strength, and modern elegance.
