Many people ask me how to get OFF Grid

my answer :

It is very expensive to go OFF Grid and still enjoy the creature comforts we are use to living in South Africa with relative cheap water and electricity ( if compared to other sources )

In Big Cities we were use to reliable safe electrical supply from the Big Escom.

How do you cook if there is no electricity ?

use a Gas stove
my personal favorite a Braai
or Cook when the electricity is ON

In order to have a safe Gas stove use a registered and properly qualified GAS Installer and a good quality Gas stove Purchased from a reputable supplier.

When investing in a Solar system remember buy proper equipment.
On a daily basis I have to inform new clients that their products can not do what they were told it can do .
Expectations are created by sales persons to generate a sale which might not be practically possible. If you don't have enough money available to buy the entire Solar system with battery backup as you need , either save money or borrow money or build the system in stages. In the Victron range You can start by buying the inverter , then the batteries and you have a back up system charging from the Grid . When you have money again you can get solar panels and charge controllers installed . The batteries can and inverter can be upgraded and even a Colour control or Venus can be installed . Now you will have a system that will save you money and you will have battery backup. If the system has been designed properly to your needs it should supply you with Comfort , piece of mind and value for money.

Remember that a Electrical certificate of compliance must be isued by a competent person registered at the department of labour for electrical work done. Even when Solar systems (PV Systems) are installed and when battery backup systems are installed
