With load shedding comes the chance for an increase in crime as criminals are aware that most electric fences and CCTV systems do not work without electricity, and they have access to the schedules for downtime. Traffic lights do not work, causing congestion resulting in armed response companies and the SAPS being delayed when attending to a crime. Make sure you have a backup for your electric fencing and CCTV systems to protect yourself for the criminal element, alternately, install solar panels with batteries as a backup for when the load shedding takes place.
