This sounds dramatic until you realise how much time we all spend standing in the kitchen wondering what to eat, where we left the keys, and whether opening the fridge again will somehow produce a different answer.

A kitchen cabinet repaint can change the whole mood of the room without ripping the whole thing out. Same cupboards. Same layout. Far less emotional baggage.

If your kitchen feels like it’s overdue a personality adjustment, get in touch and we’ll come help you out.

Choosing a colour has it's moments. You look at three samples, then twelve.

Sometimes you carry them around the house at different times of day like tiny emotional support rectangles. One looks perfect at 10am and vaguely threatening by 4:30. Eventually, you choose one, and then spend the first evening staring at it wondering if you’ve ruined your life.

This is why, when we meet you, we help you narrow things down properly. We’ll look at the light, the room, the existing finishes and the colours that are actually going to behave themselves once we apply it on the cabinetry.

You still get to obsess a little, and so de we. That’s probably why we became colour experts in the first place.

The big kitchen makeover decisions get all the attention. Colour, countertops and flooring.

Meanwhile, one tiny handle changes the entire mood of the room and then carries on as if nothing happened. Very suspicious behaviour.

People often ask us what kind of art belongs in a kitchen. Our answer is usually something with absolutely no business being there. A beautifully ridiculous bug covered in pumpkins? Perfect.

Not everything has to be tasteful, restrained and terribly well behaved. Sometimes the odd little thing is what makes the whole room feel like yours. Design can have manners, it just doesn’t always have to use them.

So occasionally, a house should look like a cat.

Not because it needs to, or because it makes sense. But because somewhere along the line, somebody looked at a perfectly ordinary rectangle and thought, “No. Ears.”

We respect the commitment, however, we should probably be talking about the different tones of blue and how they might work in an interior.

But, honestly, it’s a house that looks like a cat. Let’s not pretend the blue is the main event.

Nobody was offended by the brown cabinetry. Not officially, anyway. The coffee machine had a few concerns. The fridge said it didn’t want to get involved. There were, however, quiet murmurings of a revolt.

So we repainted the cabinetry in a soft greige and, frankly, tensions have eased. Everyone’s talking again. Except the fridge. The fridge remains emotionally unavailable, but it still doesn’t judge us when we go back for a third spoonful of Woolies trifle.

If your kitchen feels like everyone’s avoiding eye contact, give us a call. A repaint may be all the group therapy it needs.

There’s always that one colour you nearly talk yourself out of.

And then it ends up being the whole reason the room works.

We repainted this kitchen in a soft, moody green that completely changed the feel of the space without changing the kitchen itself.

Same cabinetry. Same layout. Very different personality.

Well, we think it’s now the perfect spot to sip summer Negronis whilst making a wildly overcomplicated bowl of pasta that should, by all reasonable accounts, have taken 20 minutes.

This little farmhouse kitchen we just painted in a deep sage reminded us that the best rooms aren't always the biggest ones. They're the ones with loads of character, where you can imagine a rhubarb crumble cooling on the counter. Or at least pretending to cool, Certain sacrifices must be made!
