Behind every strong community is someone who genuinely cares about the people in it ❀️

This week, we’re introducing the woman behind so much of the heart at Calibre - Tracey Middleton.

Originally from PE, Tracey’s connection to St Francis Bay started long before Calibre. Her family bought a holiday home here back in 1989, and from weekends spent on the canals to school holidays in the village, St Francis quickly became home in every sense of the word.

After moving to the UK at 19, Tracey built an impressive career working in travel, financial services and eventually as an Events Manager for Citibank in London, covering the EMEA region. But family brought her back home, and in 2014 she and Paul returned back to PE, and then in 2019 they moved to the place they had always loved most, St. Francis bay.

Today, Tracey is the Co-owner of Calibre Security, wife to Paul, and mom to three kids. She plays a huge role behind the scenes in marketing, community engagement, and supporting the office team wherever needed - but anyone who knows Tracey knows her impact goes far beyond a job title.

She has one of the biggest hearts around. Warm, genuine, incredibly kind, and always making the people around her laugh. She cares deeply about this community, the people in it, and the life we’ve all built here together.

Tracey often says that since buying Calibre, she feels like she’s gained a much bigger family - and we can safely say the Calibre family feels exactly the same about her.

(Also, if she had her way, every dog in St Francis would probably already be living with her 🐾)

Community is built in moments like these. πŸ‰

We’re proud to have played a small part in helping the St Francis Bay sharks R.F.C take the field this season in their new playing and training kit.

Together with local residents and Volcano Leisure, Calibre Security contributed towards the club’s new uniforms - supporting a team that continues to create opportunities, build community spirit, and represent Sea Vista with pride.

A big thank you to everyone involved in making it happen, and all the best to the Sharks for the season ahead. We look forward to seeing the new kit out on the field soon. πŸ’ͺ

Calibre is going green. 🌱

We’re proud to share that we have added 3 new electric vehicles to our fleet as part of our ongoing mission to reduce our carbon footprint and rely less on fossil fuels.

With our current high-usage vehicles using approximately 64,800 litres of fuel over 4 years, and with the possibility of fuel shortages and the continued rise in fuel prices, we felt it was the right time to look at alternative means of transport and move in a greener direction. This move is a meaningful step toward a more sustainable way of operating, without compromising on the trusted response and protection our community knows us for.

Same trusted protection.
A lighter footprint.

We’ve always got your back.

Residents in low-lying areas along the Kromme River are urgently requested to evacuate immediately as a precautionary measure following the overflowing of the Impofu Dam for the first time in 11 years.

Large volumes of water are still expected to flow into the dam system overnight, with water levels in the Kromme River anticipated to rise by between 3 and 5 metres.

Kouga Local Municipality strongly urges residents not to wait until conditions worsen before moving to safety. While the exact rise in water levels cannot yet be predicted, every precaution is being taken to protect lives and ensure the safety of all affected communities.

Residents who do not have access to alternative accommodation are requested to urgently contact the Kouga Call Centre on 042 200 2200 for assistance with temporary shelter arrangements.

Please remain alert, cooperate with emergency officials, and prioritise your safety and that of your family.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE!!!

Meet the Kromme Night Response Team.

Calibre has strengthened its night-time response in Kromme, with two permanent armed officers on duty from 7pm to 7am. This dedicated night team has been put in place to provide added presence and support when the area needs it most.

Behind the uniform are people with experience, purpose and a genuine heart for the community.

Mandilakhe Sompo has been in the security industry since 2014 and says what stood out most when joining Calibre was the welcome he received. To him, Calibre feels like family - and that’s exactly the spirit he brings to the team.

Hendrick Joachim Maartens, better known as Smiley, brings 34 years of security experience to the team, including bodyguarding, private security and 10 years in the prison service. True to his nickname, Smiley is known for his humour, warmth and strong sense of community.

Sabelo joined Calibre to grow his career and build his skills, with a passion for keeping his community safe. A natural people person, he spends his spare time learning, reading and broadening his knowledge wherever he can.

We’re proud to have these men representing Calibre in Kromme: experienced, approachable and committed to being there when it matters most.

Calibre Security - we’ve always got your back.
