🌿 World Environment Day

This World Environment Day, we're celebrating what can happen when partnerships invest in nature.

Arabella Hotel Golf & Spa and the Kogelberg Biosphere have been working together to clear invasive alien vegetation and restore indigenous fynbos habitats on the Arabella property.

These efforts help protect biodiversity, improve water security, reduce wildfire risk and ensure that this extraordinary landscape remains a place of natural wonder, especially in the face of a changing climate.

But perhaps most exciting are the signs of nature's response.

One of the species benefiting from this work is Erica patersonia, an Endangered fynbos species threatened by habitat loss and invasive alien vegetation. It’s known from only four locations – most of these in the Kogelberg Biosphere. We’re excited to therefore see on-the-ground conservation action deliver real results.

In recent months, we have also seen encouraging signs of recovery from other Proteaceae species, including 𝘓𝘦𝘶𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘶𝘮 𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘶𝘮, 𝘓𝘦𝘶𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘶𝘮 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘮, 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘢 and 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘢 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘣𝘳𝘢.

And the work continues. The Kogelberg Biosphere has once again received support through the Western Cape Department of Agriculture LandCare Programme for the 2026/27 financial year, enabling further initial and follow-up clearing on the Arabella and Ithemba properties.

Together, we are investing in the Overberg for more resilient landscapes.

🖤 A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for the opening of the Sculpture on the Cliffs Exhibition as part of the FynArts Festival. It was wonderful to celebrate art, creativity, and the beauty of Hermanus together.
