After qualifying as a Master Carpenter in Germany in 1993, Klaus Körber relocated to South Africa in 2006 and founded Pitch 45 in 2007 to apply his expertise in specialised timber roofing to local clients. Based in Somerset West, Western Cape, Pitch 45 provides the German standard of art and craftsmanship for timber construction in South Africa.

Our Story

Pitch 45 is more than just your standard roofing company. It’s the realisation of a lifelong dream and goal.

Klaus Korber first came to the country in 2002 on a working holiday, at that point in his life he was a master carpenter who had an eye for design, a passion for roofing and more than 15 years experience and at the time he was coming to consult for another roofing company.

While he was consulting on these projects, he was taken in by the beauty of this place that we call home while at the same time, he was disappointed by the standard of timber roofing he came across. It wasn’t that the quality was bad but that the timber roofing lacked the beauty that he was used to in Europe; where a roof isn’t just to protect you from the elements but is also an element of design.

It was in that moment of clarity that he realised that he had the opportunity to do something amazing and began making the arrangements to move here and start his company.
