After winter, it’s a good time to give your electric fence a proper inspection.
Grass & vegetation: Look for grass growing up against or through the fence. Keep vegetation short and clear of the wires.
Branches: Check for branches that have fallen, are touching the fence, or could potentially fall onto it.
Spiderwebs: These can be a bigger problem than you might think. Spiderwebs can trigger false alarms, so brush them off regularly. Early morning dew makes webs much easier to spot. If you keep removing them consistently, spiders will eventually move away from the fence and find somewhere else to build their webs.
Connections & isolators: Check for loose or corroded connections, broken isolators and wires that have slipped out.
Fence wires & posts: Look for loose or broken wires and any damaged or unstable posts.
Regular maintenance can help prevent unnecessary alarms and keep your electric fence working reliably.
