📢 VDC Meeting at Bophelong Community Hall

Last week Friday, the 20th of February, the Vaal Development Committee (VDC) hosted a successful meeting at Bophelong Community Hall. SMMEs and Ward Councilors were invited to attend as part of introducing and presenting the VDC, as well as uniting SMMEs from the different wards that were invited.

The session was well attended and focused on collaboration, growth, and strengthening local businesses within our communities.

🔹 Solly (VDC Executive) facilitated the meeting and guided the discussions.
🔹 Anton (VDC Chairman) shared the background of why the VDC was formed and where it originates from.
🔹 Peter (VDC Task Force) outlined the vision and direction of where the VDC is going and what SMMEs can expect moving forward.

The engagement created a platform for unity, empowerment, and collective growth among local businesses. Together, we are building a stronger and more organized SMME structure within our wards.

📍 VDC Official Launch – Evaton Lifestyle
The Vaal Development Committee (VDC) successfully hosted its official launch meeting for Evaton VDC at Evaton Lifestyle on the 15th February 2026, under the leadership of Greater Evaton VDC.

The meeting was well attended by local SMMEs, community stakeholders, the newly appointed VDC Executive, and members of the Task Force and the Sharpeville VDC. This important gathering marked the beginning of a new chapter focused on structured development, unity, and economic empowerment within our communities.
The VDC Chairman Anton addressed all SMMEs present, clearly outlining what the VDC stands for — a community-driven structure committed to:
âś… Supporting local businesses
âś… Promoting fair opportunities
âś… Strengthening collaboration
âś… Driving sustainable development
âś… Community upliftment

The session was professionally facilitated by Nomthandazo and Sfiso, ensuring productive engagement and meaningful dialogue throughout the meeting.
Peter, speaking on behalf of the Task Force, further explained their critical role within the organization — emphasizing accountability, coordination, and ensuring that the objectives of the VDC are implemented effectively.
We thank all SMMEs and stakeholders who attended and contributed to this milestone event. Together, we are building a stronger, more organized, and empowered community.

Arise Vaal Arise. This is the sad reality, where as Vaal businesses and people we are always given grumbs, once the project is completed we are starving again. It's time for us to stand up and say No More.

Community Power in Action!

Tired of waiting for change, our local heroes have taken matters into their own hands—literally. Using their own money and donations from generous neighbours, community members have been closing up dangerous potholes across our streets.

Even more inspiring? Our youth have stepped up too—volunteering their time and energy to help fix the roads we all use every day. It's a powerful reminder that when we come together, we can make a real difference, no matter how small the step.

Thank you to everyone who contributed, donated, or picked up a shovel.
Thank you to Ausi Phindile Tlamane
This is what community looks like!

We're Back at It – Community Pothole Initiative Restarting!

Great news, neighbors! Our local pothole-fixing initiative is back in action! After a short break, we're restarting our mission to make our streets safer and smoother—one pothole at a time.

We’re calling on all community members to lend a hand, whether it’s through volunteering, donating materials, or simply spreading the word. Every bit helps!

Let’s keep working together to build a better, bump-free neighborhood!
