๐ TERMITES HAVE THEIR OWN ALARM SYSTEM! ๐จ
Did you know that African harvester termites (Hodotermes mossambicus) have a surprisingly sophisticated way of warning their colony when danger is near?
When threatened, termite soldiers can produce alarm signals through vibrations, shaking their bodies and striking their heads against the ground to alert other members of the colony. They also use chemical signals to communicate and help workers find food. ๐๐ฟ
๐ WHY IT MATTERS
A termite colony may look chaotic from the outside, but these insects live in highly organised societies with specialised workers, soldiers and remarkable communication systems.
โ ๏ธ DID YOU KNOW? Understanding termite behaviour is an important part of effective termite management. If you notice termite activity on your property, early professional assessment can help determine the appropriate treatment.
