So its been a while as I've had creators block but after I got back from zimbabwe in April I bought back some solid teak planks from zimbabwe and also some Mozambique floor tiles also teak and got chopping.

I've taken a while to create this beautiful piece but boy was it worth it. I won't bore anyone with the details but hopefully the pictures tell the story.. it wasn't easy at times and almost didn't go through with joining the outer Mozambique teak pieces like I did but glad I worked through the difficulties and it paid off..

I finished the chopping board off with my own branding and 4 rupper feet to keep it from wobbling and then put on a very special chopping board mineral oil/bees wax and Carnauba wax to waterproof it and gave it a lovely shine

My next project is making something for my uncle to help him keep his milk testing tubes in order or his dairy.

Yet another Zimbabwe project complete.
I looked at this window into the kitchen and it was missing something. And a bar shelf it was missing..

I started off with a very rough cut scaffolding plank measuring 2m. I then sanded it down with a very old belt sander which was interesting but it did the job.

I found a very nice dark oak stain which had a varnish and water proofing sealant in which will help protect it during any big storms that blow in any rain. Also acts as a uv shield so will stay vibrant and shiny fingers crossed.
I gave it 3 coats and in-between each coat lightly sanded the top and front edge even more so has a very nice smooth surface to put glasses and plates from kitchen to pass through.

I found 2 very nice brackets to finish it off and support the weight of this board and possible big plates of meat and drinks.

Very happy with this little project and really finishes off the kitchen window onto the patio or verandah as we call it in Zimbabwe.

Here are the 4 special coasters I made for my mother in Zimbabwe.

Made with Africa sapele. Oak and walnut.

The 4 animals are for my mom's favourite animals.
Her duck daffy/dilly.
Her roosters.
Her sausage dog hunter
And Her boxer fugly

They turned out so well. Can't wait to try more animals on other products I make in the future.

Even when I'm home in Zimbabwe I never stop fiddling with wood and found this perfect stick after chopping a tree down. Decided to try my hand at making a walking stick and so did some whittling. The tree branch is from a maponi tree which is indigenous to Zimbabwe and can find them all over Zimbabwe and in alot of gardens

Started in the true zimbo fashion and holding the stick in between my toes and whittled away removing the bark and soft skin..

I then sanded the stick down a bit removing all the fuzz and smoothing off all the bumps and knots..
Then cut it to size for my mom..

Finished it off by drilling 3 holes in to feed the white nylon para cord type rope as a handle and then super glued the ends and in middle so doesn't move around and come undone.

Very pleased with my first attempt at making a walking stick and whittling. All with just a knife and drill and sand paper.

The last of my coasters is officially done and finished within 2 days to spare before my trip to capetown to see family and give my family some very special gifts..engraved them with my new logo. What do you all think. And 4 special designs on 4 coasters which I will reveal in a few days once I've surprised the family with them.

Like before the inside square of the coasters was made with oak and sapele and the the last ring of wood I used some walnut.. I really enjoyed seeing the different grains and colours of wood coming out.. when I'm back going to make some more with walnut and have the entire ring around the square inside all walnut.

I coated to coasters with 3 coats of hardwood wax oil and the 2 coats of a special teak varnish used on boats so that they well be a little more water proof.. well I hope..

So my first ever clock to come off my laser was done for my house mate. Pretty proud of how it came out with several tests and different versions and colours found the right colour and settings best for the picture and wow is it amazing.. I had to paint the 6mm plywood first and ended up putting 4 coats on. And I think the gold on the sage green looks incredible.

Even though I'm not fully up for sales yet it was a nice first test and going forward these settings I used for this clock and engraving will help so much.

Mind you it did take over 3hrs just to engrave and cut out. Thank goodness for my laser enclosure which I will be posting as soon as I paint it.

So a little flash back.. I'm not sure why I never showed anyone these on my personal page I think cause they weren't as perfect as I hoped for but looking back they are rustic and all hand made look which actually now is pretty good.

I made all the dominoes from 2 different woods glued together end grain. Light being oak and the dark being I forget no.. I think I made these dominoes 2019 or 18.. i then hand drilled every domino 2mm deep then create the holes and then filled them in with white paint (it was a huge pain in the ass let me tell you)

The box is made of cherry wood. Which actually cane together very well.

I then sealed all the pieces with hard wood oil/ Danish oil.

I'm very excited to try make another set but with the help from my laser engraver to mark the size to be all the same and to engrave the holes.
So stay tuned for a new updated version of domino's to come.

My first useful project that I've already made on my laser engraver and tested is this simple but useful wine bottle stand. As you can see in the 3rd and 4th image I've already gone through 1 test and it just wasn't strong enough and the 2nd has a tab that makes sure the bottle can supported with the weight in the center so that it doesn't tip out of the wine rack and the bottle can be pushed all the way back.

Next step to cut out 11 more for all the other bottles and then try and decide if it's white or cream the wine rack so can paint all the wine stands..

Oh and making this as a surprise for my father so can convince him my laser engraver is useful and not just a big machine taking up half of his workshop counter space for no reasons🤣🤣

So my first big purchase for my projects moving forward was a laser engraver and wow is it amazing.. stay tuned for what my first little project is and what it can do.

The things it can do is unlimited and so much fun.

I use the program lightburn which is so crazy easy to use but also have been learning so much from YouTube but once you've learnt how to use it, it's so easy and fun.

So welcome to my woodwork page. Here's my first full project making coasters. I first started off with glueing 4 pieces of wood together to make a square.
The lighter wood is oak, and the darker is african sapele. For the none woodworkers, both hard woods.

I cut off the ends to do some branding practice to make sure I didn't ruin my coasters when the time came (wasn't a completely fool proof first go but was a addition to the coaster)

I then cut off the corners to make a hexagon and then glued on more oak to make a square again (I know silly but trust the process).
Then found some more oak and finished the glueing process with a bigger square. Trust the process again. Haha
I then drew up my coaster size and cut it roughly to a circle Shape on the band saw. The 2nd to last process was turning the rough cylinder into a perfect cylinder.
After turning the cylinder down to size I proceeded to cut 11 blank coasters out each one roughly 6mm thick, and after sanding I branded one side on each coaster.

And in no time at all..
Actually took longer then I would of hoped but enjoyed using alot of different shapes to make a circle.

I finished them off with 2 coats of Danish oil and the last coat will be put on this week but they will pretty much remain the same finish as they are now.
