Growing Sugar Beans, Nourishing People, Restoring Soil

Sugar beans are more than a nutritious food crop, they are also valuable allies for healthy soils. As a legume, beans work with soil microorganisms to fix atmospheric nitrogen, helping improve soil fertility and reducing dependence on synthetic fertilisers.

They provide an important source of plant-based protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals, contributing to household food and nutrition security.

By integrating sugar beans into farming systems, we can grow nutritious food, build healthier soils, diversify farm incomes and strengthen resilient food systems.
