People ask what "done properly" means.

Three things, in order.

The bones. Waterproofing, fall, framing. If these aren't right, nothing else matters. The room can look perfect on day one; but a year in, you'll know.

The detail. Grout lines, cuts, niches, alignment. The bits clients notice when they live with the room every day. Some of them never get pointed out, they just feel right.

The handover. Leaving a site cleaner than we found it. Walking the client through everything. Being reachable after the job's done, not gone the day the invoice clears.

Three layers. None of them get cut. That's the whole job.

Most bathroom photos online show you the finish. Here are five things you'd never notice from a photo, but every single one of them matters.

👉🏼 P4-rated slip resistance on the floor tiles. The number you want for wet zones in a home.
👉🏼 Underfloor heating, sealed under the tile during the build. Comfort in winter, and floors that dry quicker.
👉🏼 A backlit mirror at the vanity, wired in during rough-in. Even light, no shadows, no add-on bathroom lamp.
👉🏼 Full-height waterproofing in the shower, floor to ceiling. And then everywhere else? We meet compliance. Every. Single. Time.
👉🏼 Ardex epoxy grout in wet areas. Won't stain, won't discolour, won't need redoing in five years.

This is what "done properly" actually looks like. Most of it disappears the moment the tiles go on.
Which is exactly why it has to be right the first time.

Our standard package isn't a one-size-fits-all process. Even at the base level, we build in variety; because no two homes (or homeowners) want exactly the same thing.

This is the tapware range that comes standard in every Proz-At bathroom, ensuite, toilet, and laundry renovation. Brass body, brass handle, all WELS-rated for water efficiency. Wall top assemblies and swivel spouts as standard, or upgrade to mixers if that's the look you're after.

Same goes for everything else: vanities, tiles, accessories. We'll walk you through all of it before you commit to anything.

Surprises during a renovation aren't usually the good kind.

To tile floor-to-ceiling, or not?

There's no universal right answer. It depends on the room, the budget, and the feel you're after.

The pros:
→ Looks high-end and considered
→ Easier to clean; no painted wall collecting steam and splash
→ Better long-term durability
→ Makes small bathrooms feel taller
→ No tile-to-paint join to crack or yellow

The cons:
→ Costs more — more tiles, more labour
→ Locks you into the tile choice longer
→ Can feel cold or stark in the wrong space
..But if you asked us? Floor to ceiling in wet zones is a non-negotiable for a lot of spaces - but, we also understand it's not for everyone.

Other than that...? It's a design call. We won't talk you into it because it's trending. We'll talk through what works for your space and your budget.

Woodville is in the home stretch.

The bathroom install? Done. All that's left is for the client to finish painting; and then the reveal.

A few of our favourite design calls on this one:
→ Half-height tile, with terrazzo-look porcelain on the bottom and a soft white vertical stack subway above.
→ A timber-framed mirror cabinet to soften all the cool tones and tie back to the natural materials elsewhere in the home.
→ Gunmetal tapware throughout; warmer than chrome, less stark than matte black. Ages beautifully.
→ A clean tile-around bath with vertical stack subway running down the front to match the walls. A small detail that does a lot of work.
→ Terrazzo-look tile carried through the floor and feature wall, so the bath sits inside the design instead of being something extra.

The before? Peeling paint on the walls. Pebbled mosaic floors. A separate toilet that hadn't been touched in decades.

We don't even need to label which is which; you'll know.

Elizabeth East. Done properly.

Floor-to-ceiling marble-look tiles, black tapware throughout, a vessel basin that quietly steals the show, and a separate toilet tucked behind its own door. Modern, but the kind that doesn't date.
