Here in Cairns we have some super steep properties. By creating terraces we can avoid having to build retaing walls over 1 metre high, which eliminates the need for an engineer or council approval.
Where it wasn't possible to build a wall we resorted to pinning filter fabric to the clay and planting it out with ground covers, which once established will help to retain the bank.
