Day 5 – 20kms

132kms in total - Cape Naturalist to Cape Leeuwin. They are done!!!

Day 5, the final days hike, was from Cosy Corner Beach to the end of the track at Cape Leeuwin.

It was a big day with the excitement of finishing the hike and we all found it quite easy. There was a massive 9k beach section, but Tom and Karl just hid in Aleks giant footsteps, so they were fine….

The last 2 hours were through dense Coastal scrub and when it warmed up, AAALLLLL the snakes came out. The boys saw 6 snakes in total, Tiger snakes & Dugites. Tom nearly stepped on one! So not only are they absolute bloody legends for finishing this mammoth walk, but they also risked their lives doing it!!! 🤣🐍

They finally arrived at the end of the track and jumped in the sea to celebrate and relieve their tired achy feet.

Fantastic effort gents. Everyone at AKT is super proud of your efforts and the money that you have raised.

Started the day making sure Aleks had the keys!! 😆

Day 4 – 21kms
Today the guys trecked from Jarrahdene camp ground to Cosy Corner Beach in a record time of 4 hours. It felt quite quick but it was a struggle with a 5km beach section followed by gruelling up and down dunes that seemed to go on forever.

Karl had a brief scare with his knee in the middle of a remote section of beach and Tom’s ankles were on tender-hooks all day. Their bodies are feeling the kms now that’s for sure.

With just 17kms left to go on day 5, we wait to see if they will make it through the final push to come in with a strong finish!!

Cape to Cape Walk update

Day 2 – 32km
Today’s hike was from Quinninup Falls to the mouth of the Margaret River.
The guys were pumped after day one and feeling engergized, settling into a good groove.
There was lots of winding track through dense coastal scrub and thankfully today, only one beach section.
Their hike ended for the day as they crossed the Margaret River and jumped into the sea. A great way to end the day!

Day 3 - 27km
The treck of the day was from Margaret River mouth to Jarrahdene camp ground in Boranup.
Karl thought it was the hardest day so far, Aleks has big blisters on his feet and shockingly enough, Tom only suffered some minor ham string pain. More importantly, the boys are still speaking to each other!!
A big change of scenery today, from coastal scrub into a Karri forest, with a massive 1.5km constant uphill fight right at the end of the day, and only just before Aleks revealed he left his keys back at the starting car, 27kms away!!
Needless to say, they jumped in a taxi and went to the pub!

All in all, spirits are high and the guys are super appreciative that they get to do this for such a worthwhile cause.
