When Kim and Jacquie first came to us, they had a completely different design done already for their Cowaramup home.

We priced it, but after some deeper conversations about how they wanted to live, we could see an opportunity to do something so much better.

The new design we completed for them in collaboration with our partner architect Cynosure Architecture delivered so much more.
Better spaces, an amazing master retreat, a guest room and the most adorable views of the horses. (As a horse owner herself, Ash was particularly invested in that last detail!)

And that’s the thing about good design. It’s about understanding what really matters to the people who will live there and making sure their investment delivers genuine, lasting value.

A little taste of summer in Yallingup. ☀️🌿

We completed this beautiful home extension, interior renovation and expansive timber deck to a new pool a few years ago, and with those incredible views across the treetops, we can only imagine how much our clients are enjoying it.

With the warmer weather rolling in, we’re picturing long afternoons by the pool, good company, a few drinks and nowhere else to be.

Rain, hail or shine. We’ve got it covered. ☔️🔨

Our Margaret River project got its temporary roof installed this week (just before all the rain) and for us, it’s a no-brainer.

Why? Because our clients shouldn’t have to wear the cost of bad weather.

✔️ Protects their biggest asset – keeping both the existing home and new structure dry and protected from moisture damage.

✔️ No costly rain delays – work keeps moving, even when the weather turns.

✔️ Protects their budget – our clients aren’t paying for days lost to rain.

✔️ A safer worksite – no slippery surfaces or power tools being used in wet conditions.

It’s smarter building. Simple as that. 🔨

INSPIRATION → REALITY.

Not going to lie, Stefan and I have a serious soft spot for mid-century modern architecture.

On our first meeting our clients came to us with this beautiful inspiration image.

The brief? Capture the character of mid-century modernism and create something uniquely theirs, right here in the South West.

FRIDAY FUNNY- All jokes aside, you have to start somewhere.

And this was me starting somewhere.

Young interior designer. Full of ideas. Absolutely convinced that if I could find a photo of something in a European interiors magazine, then obviously it could be built here.

Builder: “I wouldn’t recommend doing that.”

Me: “Well, LOOK AT THIS.”
Produces magazine.

😂

I genuinely thought some builders were just being difficult.

Shower niches started appearing — some builders didn’t want to build them. (Showing my age here 😂)

Walk-in showers became the thing — builders would tell me the beautiful European detail I’d brought them wasn’t suitable here.

And I’d go hunting until I found an Australian project that had done it.

HA. GOT YOU.

Except… they often had a very good reason for pushing back.

Because while I was thinking about what something looked like, they were thinking about how the hell they were going to build it.

How it would be waterproofed.
Whether it complied.
Whether it would actually work.
What it would cost.
And most importantly — whether they were prepared to put their name and warranty behind it.

That understanding only comes with experience.

More than 20 years later, I still love pushing design boundaries. I still question things. And I definitely still arrive with ideas that make Stefan look at me like I’ve lost the plot.

But now the conversation is different.

How can we build it properly?

And if we can’t — or if doing it properly doesn’t make sense for the client’s budget — we say so.

Because great design isn’t about the designer getting everything they want.

It’s about designers, architects, builders and trades bringing their knowledge to the table and being prepared to challenge each other.

That’s a huge part of how we work at Two Hammers today.

So yes, young interior designer Ash was a bit of a brat.

But she was learning.

And you’ve got to start somewhere ✌🏻
