Tell us about your role at K2LD.
As a Principal, I guide projects from early design to completion, ensuring thoughtful outcomes that respond to our clients’ aspirations. My role involves bringing people together, from clients and consultants to our team, while balancing design ambition with the practical realities of delivering a successful project.
What’s one K2LD project that has stayed with you, and why?
Victoria’s Growth Areas Schools Project stands out. Beyond its scale and complexity, it’s rewarding to see the positive impact these spaces have on students, teachers and communities. The collaboration and problem-solving involved make it worthwhile to see the schools become places for learning and connection.
What does your workflow look like from enquiry to handover?
Every project begins with listening. Understanding the client’s vision, priorities and challenges helps establish a clear design direction. Throughout the process, I focus on guiding the design, resolving challenges and ensuring the original vision carries through to construction. A successful handover means delivering a building that meets the brief and works well for its users.
What outside architecture and design influences your work?
I find inspiration in everyday experiences and how people interact with their surroundings. Travelling, exploring new places and observing how people use spaces remind me that architecture is ultimately about people, not just how a building looks, but how it feels, functions and contributes to everyday life.
