People are often surprised at the cost of a tradesman after hours. Plumbers, electricians but locksmiths when you're locked out, you can't really put it off because you're trapped.

Don't do like a client the other day she calls at 5:45 to book in a job at 15:30 that's just inconsiderate, she apologized profusely afterwards realising what she had done but still.
People actually think 24/7 means there's somebody sitting at a desk on the off chance someone might get locked out or robbed in the middle of the night. 🙄

There's a reason no-one answers the phones at night, full of entitled people...

Customer calls,

Cust: we have been broken into, they damaged the lock, we need to repair the lock and secure the property, you see because we are a jewellery store...

Me: send a photo of the damaged lock I will see what I can do...

I get a call today to repair the front doors off a big house in Claremont.

With Silver $75 & Gold $7000 an ounce that's all time highs it doesn't take much for a good score, a ring a chain.

My customer has a night latch I tell her your might as well leave the door unlocked because it only takes a few seconds to open with a piece of plastic.

I can't tell by the look in her eyes that she thought I was doing the pressure sell. So I said you know what let me show you. Which I did, sheer was not feeling very comfortable after that. So I said either invest in a new lock or a security door. She insists she's going to get a security door, so I leave it at that.

So I asked her out of curiosity. I said to her what is the most valuable thing in your house at the moment because they're doing some Reno's, she points to her finger and She says "my clock"and I said "that's my point." People think their possessions are the most valuable things. They don't understand that they themselves, their kids, their wives. Their pets are the most important thing in the house. If there was a fire, you don't leave your dog and kids to grab your clock.

There was a spade where we were getting robberies where Joe bad guy was putting the dog and or the cats in the freezer for the owners to come home and find them Frozen to death or the 98-year-old woman in Mosman Park a few years ago. That was broken into r***d, beaten and sodomised by a 15-year-old. Why? Why not? Who knows why. I'm sure that's not the way she wanted to live out her final years with those horrific memories.

The point is if you can afford security get it. Because those bad memories of a Home invasion never go away.... So call us today!!

The customer sends an email on Friday late afternoon booking an appointment for 11 am Monday. Then acts all surprised when we lock it in...

She calls and said "we didn't get a response from our email"

24 hours doesn't mean someone is sitting at a desk, people need to use their heads, it's most times a skeleton staff usually one person answering the phone who is not a robot and requires sleep.
If it's important, pick up the phone and call to confirm and book an apt.

Yes there are cheaper locksmiths if those use the kind of work you want done. Never underestimate how easy the tradesmen makes the job look. Concentrate on the final look of the job.
Locks need to be aligned, same colour In functioning properly from the start it doesn't get smoother as time goes by. Having the right tools and experience for the job is crucial. I had to patch this monstrosity.
The locksmith who did this job corded way lower than everybody else. Now the customer knows why.

There are no 24 hour locksmiths open 24 hours, in fact other than Spudshed, IGA, petrol stations and a few convenience stores. There's nothing 24 hours.

People honestly need to use their brains way more than they do, imagine what it would cost to have someone sorting in a shop 24/7 to cut you a $5.00 key. With them labour laws in Australia.

The amount of people that freak out at the prices for a Trady call out at night or on the weekends, imagine what that key would cost just for your convenience???

It's as if society even the supposed educated people have gone stupid overnight.

Ask yourself, what would you charge someone to take abuse, day in day out or 24/7.
Woken up in the middle of the night sometimes 5 or 6 times by the same person who just doesn't seem to understand 24 hours doesn't mean 24 hours. Emergency ONLY.
If they do offer help at ridiculous hours or on beautiful weekends, it's not going to be cheap. You get the scammers who are half of everyone elses price for a reason. Use them and you will find out the hard way.

(And it doesn't matter if you put it on your website they don't read, anymore )

So please think before you act. Save us and yourself some grief.
