National Safe Work Month wraps up this week.

It’s a good reminder, but for us it isn’t a once a year thing, and a few of the team explain why. Safety starts in the office with how the job is planned and carries all the way through to the crew on the deck, and if you see something that isn’t right it’s yours to deal with. You don’t walk past it and you don’t wait for a supervisor, and nobody gets in trouble for pulling up a job to make it safe.

That’s what We Own It looks like in practice. 👷

Azzurri started out as a small concreting crew in 2004 and more than three million cubic metres later the business still thinks the same way it did then. 🏗️

From the methodology set in the office to where the pump sits on site, every decision is made by people who know what it takes to deliver the highest standard for our clients. And we do it with pride. 👷

Twenty-two years on the business is a lot bigger than it was then, but the standard is the same. Every pour, every project, every time. 💪

Boom in position, reo laid out and the city just coming into view on the horizon.

This month's winner is Peter one of our Site Foreman. A quiet few minutes on the deck before the pour gets underway, and a good reminder of why the early starts are worth it.

🔦Project Spotlight: One Sydney Harbour, Barangaroo

✅ 68 structural levels
✅ Around 300 metres of static line
✅ 88,191 m³ of concrete supplied, pumped and placed

Working with Lendlease from 2019 to mid 2024, our scope covered the basement works and Towers R2 and R3. R2 was the tallest project Azzurri had delivered at the time, and meeting its strict mix performance and sustainability requirements took nearly 20 revisions to the mix designs.

On R3 we introduced lower carbon mixes and ran the first electric concrete pump in Sydney.

This job is a milestone in Azzurri's growth, and a project everyone involved can be proud of.

It's a reminder that work health and safety isn't just about preventing harm in the moment. It's about protecting someone's health, their future and their life well beyond the site gate.

On a concrete job that means the planning before anyone picks up a tool, the pre start that gets run properly, and a crew who know they can speak up when something doesn't look right.

Safety here isn't a policy, a poster or a box to tick.
