Following the design process explored in Part 1, the Belleville Fire Hall/Headquarters & Emergency Operations Centre comes together as a purpose-built facility supporting fire and emergency services in the City of Belleville.

The 22,000 sq ft facility brings together a range of operational and support spaces within one cohesive building. From training and dispatch functions to on-site accommodations for firefighters, each area is planned to support efficiency, readiness, and day-to-day operations.

Despite complex site constraints, the final design successfully accommodates the full program within the defined limits, delivering a facility that meets the needs of its users and the broader community.

For the Belleville Fire Hall/Headquarters & Emergency Operations Centre, the challenge was to design a facility that could fully support fire and emergency operations while working within a constrained site. A two-storey approach was developed to maximize space while maintaining the necessary clearance for service vehicle movement.

From early planning to coordination, the project required careful consideration of stormwater management, neighbouring properties, geotechnical conditions, and the demolition of the existing structure. Each step played a role in shaping a solution that responds to both operational needs and site constraints.

Through a thoughtful and collaborative process, the team was able to deliver a facility that meets the demands of its users while working within the parameters set by the City of Belleville.

Flow refers to how easily people can move through and interact with a space. From the placement of entrances and hallways to how rooms connect with one another, a well-designed layout creates a natural and intuitive path throughout the environment.
