Thinking about starting a renovation?
Before you dive in, here are 5 things we wish every homeowner knew…because we care about getting this right for you.
1. Hire the right people!!!
Your contractor is going to spend a lot of time in your home. Make sure it’s a team you trust and can rely on.
2. Talk costs early
There are ways to save, but this is your home, your sanctuary. Have an honest conversation with your designer about where to splurge and where to save.
3. Build in a buffer, for time and budget
Older homes especially can reveal surprises once walls come down (wiring, plumbing, structural stuff). A little wiggle room saves a lot of stress.
4. Plan for the “in between” days
Parts of your home may be unusable for a while, figure out your game plan before demo day, not during it.
5. Permits and approvals take time. There’s often a process before the fun part starts. Good to know upfront so you’re not caught off guard.
Save this for when you’re ready to start. We’re here if you have questions along the way!
