Let’s talk pump trucks, concrete trucks, and the teamwork behind a good pour! 👷♂️🚧
Today, we poured a good stretch of foundation wall with help from Degrandis and Intercounty Concrete. We’re fortunate to have great relationships with our suppliers, ALL OF THEM—reliable service, skilled operators, and good communication all help keep a job moving.
Each truck has an important role. The concrete truck’s rotating drum keeps the concrete mixed during delivery. On site, the concrete travels down the truck’s chute into a hopper on the pump truck.
From there, the pump pushes the concrete through a pipeline supported by that impressive folding arm, called a boom. A hose at the end allows the crew to direct the concrete into the forms. The boom can reach over obstacles and into areas that would be difficult to access directly with a concrete truck—especially around foundation walls and footings.
Our crew guides the placement, consolidates the concrete to help remove trapped air, and keeps a close eye on the forms as the pour progresses. It takes coordination between the concrete delivery drivers, pump operator, and forming crew to get the job done well.
There’s a lot of planning, equipment, and experience behind those walls—and we appreciate everyone who helps us build them!
