Ornamental fencing is low maintenance, but a seasonal check is still worthwhile. Rinse off dirt, and debris, make sure the gate hardware moves freely, and look over the finish for any chips or damage that should be addressed before the wet and freezing weather arrives!

Vinyl is one of the easiest fence materials to maintain. Most dust, pollen and everyday grime can be handled with water, mild soap, and a soft brush or cloth. Skip the harsh abrasives, that can dull the finish!

Quick weekend gate check: open it, close it, and listen. If it drags, squeaks, or no longer latches cleanly, it is work dealing with before winter. Check hinges, latches, fasteners and the space under the gate so small problems do not turn into bigger ones. A gate should always feel solid, and easy to use every single time!

Fresh cedar looks great, but a little maintenance goes a long way. Before fall, check wood fencing for loose boards, fasteners that have backed out, and areas where soil or irrigation keeps the bottom of the boards damp. Keeping wood clean and able to dry properly helps extend its life! If you plan to paint it, or seal it, make sure the wood is dry first!

- And that boundaries exist for a reason.

Today we're celebrating the dads, grandpas, stepdads, and father figures who taught us the value of hard work, doing things right, and taking pride in what we build.
