There will be a meeting Saturday June 20 @ 4 pm at the New Horizons in Denare Beach open to any families who find themselves backed into a corner feeling their insurance company is dictating who their builder will be and at rebuild number far less than the reputable builders who submitted legitimate bids. Also if you have not heard from insurance regarding a rebuild number they are likely sitting on the bids while they look for partner builders to jump on board at a cut rate. Any builders in the area who have clients that are in this situation please bring them out. If anyone has any questions at all or would like to chat privately please email me.

Good Saturday Morning. After meeting with a number of families this week and chatting with another contractor who has clients in the same mess with Wawanesa. It’s time to discuss whether the families involved in this mess would like to get together for a group meeting to discuss options and next steps. I’m happy to host this if there is interest in it. Don’t feel pressured it will be a laid back get together to share and listen. There’s no pressure to share anything private and I think if we get the main points out there they will cover the majority of the groups concerns as you seem to share the same main points. So if you’re in this situation and we have chatted or if we haven’t yet please reach out to me and we will get something set up.

There’s seems to be a number of families who are dealing with Wawanesa insurance in the Denare area and being dealt a pretty bizarre hand. Talk of being forced to use a certain delegated builder without any explanation, reasoning or even a proper introduction to the builder they have delegated. This is the only insurance company doing this and it’s far from the right way to do things. I had a number of meetings the past couple days with people who all have the same story and it’s not right. Anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation and would like to chat please reach out to my email below. This is for anyone who is planning to build with any builder. This is not about sales it’s about getting enough people in the same situation some traction by getting your stories together so please don’t hesitate to reach out.

I had the opportunity to have a good visit with Rob Hart today at the Creighton Trade & Leisure Show. It’s always so nice chatting hockey and the community with Rob. Congratulations on the hall of fame announcement and a huge thanks for bringing all the exciting Bomber games to life through the radio over the past 27 years. A true legend in sports broadcasting and such a great guy to chat with.

Just reaching to anyone who is frustrated with how they are being treated by insurance or how slow your adjuster is moving with your file.

Some people are rebuilding already while some have not received a Pre Loss Scope of Work to even start getting quotes and this is unacceptable.

Please watch for the following:

- When you recieve your Pre Loss Scope please review it in fine detail. I have sat down with a number of customers and reviewed the entire scope and have found tons of missing details. The worst example was one that after the couple re submitted the scope to insurance after we reviewed and made revisions the couple got an extra $100,000 added to their rebuild number.

- Be VERY careful if your adjuster has not provided you a Pre Loss Scope yet and is telling you to get quotes on your rebuild. This ends up wasting your time and ours as without any idea of what your rebuild number will be how do we start planning your new home??? All the adjuster is trying to do is buy themselves more time. NO MORE TIME. It’s been 6 months and everyone should have a Pre Loss Scope.

- DO NOT let your adjust try to use prelim quotes that you may have gotten months ago shortly after this disaster to establish your rebuild number. Those quotes are PRELIM and most were from prior to receiving a Pre Loss Scope. Receiving a rebuild number based off of months old PRELIM quotes is the adjuster taking a short cut and not putting the work in.

- MAKE SURE to keep your adjuster in check. Most policies with guaranteed rebuild should afford you to rebuild a new home of like size and finishes. This is fair for both sides so the client doesn’t take the money to rebuild a 2000 sq ft house and builds an 800 sq ft house and pockets the rest.

BUT

- DO NOT allow your adjuster to start dictating what you can have in your new home. If you want to pay the extra for higher end finishes or extra square footage it’s none of their business and you may need to remind your adjuster and keep them in line.

- REMEMBER most of your adjusters are sub contracted THIRD PARTY companies so if your not happy with how you or your file are being treated contact the INSURANCE COMPANY ADVISOR for your file and tell them. DO NOT let the adjuster push you around YOU ARE THE CUSTOMER!

Anyone who is frustrated and feeling defeated with the insurance process please reach out asnd Id be happy to sit down and go through everything with you. Again I am not concerned with who you decide to build with. At this point it’s about helping people who do not need any more stress and frustration.
