Canada is about to make switching to a heat pump a lot more affordable.
And we're getting ready for it.
The federal government has announced a $2 BILLION National Heat Pump Rebate Program, expected to launch in early 2027.
Up to 820,000 Canadian households could benefit.
Here's what makes this interesting:
❌ Spending thousands replacing an aging heating system without exploring more efficient alternatives.
✅ Up to $10,000 in rebates for eligible lower-income households, or $2,000 for other eligible homeowners.
❌ Relying on separate, potentially energy-intensive systems for heating and cooling.
✅ One cold-climate heat pump that provides both heating and air conditioning.
❌ Complicated energy audits and lengthy approval processes.
✅ No energy audits required, with a simplified application process and approvals expected within 24 hours.
The government estimates that households switching from oil, propane, or electric resistance heating could save more than $1,400 annually on energy bills.
So, where does Brightworks Energy fit into this?
We're already working with our industry partners, equipment suppliers, and technical teams to prepare for the program's rollout.
Our goal is to make heat pump installations part of our residential energy service offerings when the program launches.
Because making homes more energy-efficient isn't only about the technology.
It's about making that technology accessible, affordable, and practical for the people who need it.
We've put together a breakdown of the new program, how it will work, and what homeowners should expect.
