Well, I know we needed a bit of rain to keep things growing and to green the grass up a little, but we've had quite the onslaught so far this week!

I've done my best to cut lawns as and where appropriate but unfortunately I have and will continue to postpone some grass cuts in cases where I'd do more harm than good.

All those affected will receive a message/phone call so you'll know where you stand but I just wanted to apologise for the forced changes in schedule. Hopefully we get back to normality again soon!

1. Set your expectations. It's simple: your lawn just isn't likely to look as good after a cut in the rain. You'll likely have grass clippings to clean up at the end.

2. Your mower makes all the difference. Cheap mowers are going to get clogged up with wet grass and cut out. This is where professionals have the advantage. Commercial-grade mowers will eat up that wet grass and keep it in the bag.

3. Assess the lawn. If the ground is boggy underfoot, it's not worth attempting. You're just going to leave muddy tramlines all over the place.

In general, if it's wet and time will allow, you're better off just leaving it for a dryer day. But us gardeners who do this day in, day out can't be leaving out grass cuts unless absolutely necessary.

Honestly, I'm so disappointed that I didn't get photos of this area beforehand. It was an overgrown mess with random rows of buxus hedges and shrubs to begin with and it hadn't been maintained in a long time! Fast forward to today and it's now a usable space for the customer.

We've had problem couriers, awful access which meant no bulk bags or wheelbarrows and three tonnes of 20kg bags handballed up a narrow public footpath!

It was all worth it in the end for a delighted customer! 😁

Sometimes you just need an area of overgrown field clearing 🤷

This one was for a regular customer whose garden has access to a field behind it. They like to use it for dog walks which became impossible with 6ft growth! It was also growing through the fence so that's been cleaned up too.
