I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to those that don't already know me.
My names Damian and I'm the owner of D k roofing and construction. you'll have to excuse the face, roofing isn't always sunshine and flowers 😂

I've been roofing for just over 20 years, i started my career with a small roofing firm in the village i grew up in (great barford)
I quickly got the taste for the trade and before you know it i was 22, had a small family living in Langford near Biggleswade, own place and a lot of responsibilities.

Over the last 20 years iv been privileged enough to work on some really special projects
lead welding on the shard
damp issues and drainage at Blenheim palace
repairs to Edenborough castle roof
Leeds royal infirmary
slough power station
and that's just to name a few

6 years ago i started D k roofing and construction so i could have more freedom at work, during that time i iv helped homeowners all over Bedfordshire with there roofing issues, we've helped with historic roofs and brand new roofs and even built the odd extension.

This morning we're in Biggleswade changing an old Velux flashing kit for new as the old one was badly warped.
The customer was getting leaks to both bottom corners of the window.

flashing kits often need to be changed to keep rain from getting in around the Velux, they can fail for a huge number of reasons, it could be uv damage, an installation issue that was never flagged or it could be a simple blockage in one of the channels causing it to fail.
This particular kit was installed incorrectly as they've fixed nails thru the kit causing it to leak

were changing the felt and batten then retiling it in with the original valley tiles changing any that are broken.

as you can see by the picture this valleys been leaking for some time and was in a terrible state.

partial rebuild and repoint of 2 large chimneys in Shefford!

The chimney tops are weathered beyond repair, were stripping 2 courses down and replacing the bricks with new, In addition we'll be adding 4 new chimney pots to one of the stacks.

We're also repointing the entire breast as the previous cement was starting to crumble.

Here we've done a 3 layer torch on system from tecknatorch

1 layer with the holes (permeable) this allows thermal movement to do its thing without damaging the integrity of the system, a standard underlay that bonds to the deck through the holes, and a cap sheet that bonds directly to the underlay, using this system allows the roof to expand and contract between seasons reducing the risk of splits or failure.
